Robert Ivy is a registered architect and the Chief Executive of American Institute of Architects (AIA) who hold a Masters of Architecture he achieved from Tulane University where he studied Architecture between 1973 and 1976.He also holds Bachelor of Arts in English achieved from Sewanee: The University of the South. Here, he studied cum laude in English between 1965 and 1969. His Education background and hard work have made him a remarkable architectural journalist where his journals are widely read worldwide.
He was a principal at Dean/Dale between 1981 and 1996.Robert Ivy’s career flourished in 1996 where he anchored Architectural Record to become the world’s read architectural journal as the Editor in Chief. In McGraw-Hill Construction Media which also included Green source, he served as the Editorial Director and vice president. He steered Architectural Record to scoop many awards. In 2003, it was awarded the National Magazine award honored for general excellence. The magazine has also been awarded the premier magazine journalism award. It also earned the 26 Jesse H Neal awards 7 doozies. Due to his excellence in editorial media and his lifetime contributions, he achieved the G.D Crain award in 2009.

Robert Ivy was named the master architect by Alpha Rho Chi who is an architectural national fraternity 2010. Robert Ivy beat Architects like Cass Gilbert, John Wellborn Root, Richard Buckminster Fuller, Ludwig Mies Van Del Rohe, Eliel Saarinen, I.M Pei, and Dr. Nathan Clifford Ricker to receive the master architect honor in 100 years. His communication prowess has helped him deliver many speeches and also hosted numerous interviews to popular people in architecture. At Venice Architecture Biennale, he served thrice as the U.S commissioner. Robert has written a biography Fay Jones: architect which is in its third edition and it lays out in details what architecture is all about. This has proved Robert Ivy to stand out as the master architect as per the award he was given.
