Shervin Pishevar says cryptocurrencies could serve as new funding source for entrepreneurs

Shervin Pishevar is one of the most successful venture capitalists in the world of technology. As the founder and CEO of Sherpa Capital, he has been responsible for the founding of some of the top tech companies in the world today, including Virgin Hyperloop, Uber and Airbnb. Shervin Pishevar has also personally founded and sold off a number of highly successful firms, among them, Social Gaming Network, Ionside and WebOS.

Shervin Pishevar also operates one of the most-followed Twitter feeds of anyone in Silicon Valley. He has more than 100,000 followers, to whom he regularly expounds on all things economic, social and technological.

Recently, Shervin Pishevar engaged in a 21-hour tweet storm, in which he discussed the implications of new means of international commerce, in particular, cryptocurrencies. Pishevar believes that the introduction of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is far more than just another way for people to send and receive money. He says that cryptocurrencies have the potential to completely revolutionize global commerce, bypassing the traditional gatekeeper of funds and providing genuine free-market competition to the same services provided by government.

But this insight has also led Pishevar to warn that governments across the world will be keen to shut down cryptocurrencies wherever they are interfering with current government monopolies over markets. Pishevar has stated that he anticipates crackdown efforts against cryptocurrencies to sharply intensify as governments across the world begin to realize that entrepreneurs and other innovators will be able to simply leave jurisdictions that no longer treat them well. In this view, cryptocurrencies could prove to be the ultimate force for globalization, pitting every country against every other in a competition to see who can be the most accommodating for business and meet the real needs of innovators across the globe.

While this sounds almost too good to be true for entrepreneurs and other innovators, Pishevar says that governments will begin to do everything in their power to prevent the flight of valuable capital and human assets from within their jurisdictions when things finally reach a critical threshold. But he says this will ultimately be resolved by countries eventually learning that they simply have to compete in the new globalized marketplace of citizenship.

Flavio Maluf Leads Global Business In Green Practices

As the son of a well=known politician in Brazil, Flavio Maluf is no stranger to politics. While he may not have taken the same road as his father, running a business of any size doesn’t come without its fair share of necessary political engagement. As the CEO and president of the Eucatex group, the political savvy he learned from his father stands him in good stead.

The Eucatex group is a family enterprise and has been since 1951. The company specializes in building supplies with a special focus on laminate and vinyl products such as floors, baseboards, wall partitions, panels and doors. The company builds the products – along with other items such as furniture and toys – from the wood of the eucalyptus found so abundantly in Maluf’s native Brazil. Find out more about Flavio at barbacenaonline.com

Maluf attended the FAAP (Fundação Armando AlvaresPenteado, Brazil), where he obtained a degree in mechanical engineering. Later, he attended New York University where he also obtained a degree in business administration. Between his political knowledge and business savvy, Maluf has built Eucatex into a powerhouse international business that ships and sells their products across the globe. Maluf did not go immediately into the family business, but rather worked first for a number of other companies such as Citicorp. He felt that experiences like this would best prepare him to lead his family’s business one day.

In spite of the lack of governmental environmental regulations in the 1950’s, the company has always prided itself on adhering to a number of environmentally friendly production practices. Among these were becoming the first business in South America to incorporate recycling into their production process. The company even built their own recycling plant that takes leftover wood to convert for use as a source of energy. Flavio Maluf has made it his mission to continue these types of practices and become a leader in green manufacturing practices in Brazil and beyond.
